The Role
As a Lead Engineer at Calab.ai, you’ll spearhead engineering projects from ideation to deployment, guiding a talented team to deliver cutting-edge AI-powered solutions. You’ll set the technical direction, establish best practices, and foster a culture of excellence, trust, and innovation. Your leadership will drive our mission to accelerate digital transformation for global enterprises.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead with Vision: Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from concept through deployment, ensuring the creation of high-quality, scalable solutions that transform business operations.
- Set Technical Direction: Define and enforce engineering best practices and standards that ensure consistency and excellence across projects.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, design innovative solutions, and guarantee successful implementation.
- Mentor & Grow Talent: Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Create Impactful Documentation: Develop comprehensive solution designs and technical specifications for complex client projects.
- Manage Technical Debt: Prioritise and address technical debt to ensure long-term maintainability, performance, and scalability of our solutions.
- Solve Critical Issues: Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving high-impact challenges, ensuring smooth and timely project delivery.
What You’ll Bring:
- Microsoft Power Platform Expertise: Extensive experience with Power Platform tools and services, driving successful solutions for enterprise clients.
- Azure AI Mastery: Proficiency in Microsoft Azure AI services, including Form Recognizer, Custom Vision, and OpenAI, with a proven track record of successful implementations.
- DevOps & Tools Savvy: Expertise in modern developer tools like GitHub, Azure DevOps, and CICD best practices, ensuring efficient, high-quality deployments.
- Agile Experience: Proven ability to work within Agile frameworks, manage user stories, sprint planning, and retrospectives to deliver client-centric solutions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to elicit requirements, design tailored solutions, and translate them into actionable user stories for development.
- Growth Mindset: Relentless drive to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and continuously improve.
- Exceptional Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to clients.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Integration Expertise: Experience with Azure Integration Services (Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, API Manager) or similar technologies (Python Flask, Node.js).
- Data Proficiency: Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Synapse, Data Factory, Azure Databricks) or similar platforms.
- Machine Learning Experience: Hands-on expertise with Azure Machine Learning and other AI/ML solutions like Tesseract.
- Consulting Background: Experience working in a consultative capacity with clients to deliver value on time and within scope.
- AI Integration Expertise: Proven ability to integrate AI solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem of automation and integration tools.
- Containerisation Skills: Experience with containerised solutions like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Front-End Development: Experience developing front-end web apps with frameworks like React.
